DENMARK - New Procedure for EU National Immigration Applications in Copenhagen

Effective 1 April 2019, post-arrival residence document applications by EU nationals in Copenhagen will be handled by the Danish Agency of International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI). Currently, these cases are handled by the State Administration (RSA).

Transition

  • Until 15 March 2019, EU residence document applications in Copenhagen can be submitted online, and issued documents must be collected in person by 29 March 2019 at RSA.
  • From 18 March 2019, EU residence document applications in Copenhagen must be submitted in person at the RSA, by the applicant rather than a third-party, and collected in person by 29 March 2019.
  • From 1 April 2019, there will be a new procedure for submitting EU residence document applications and booking appointments via SIRI. Further details are not yet available.

Note that these changes only apply in Zealand. In the rest of Denmark (Fyn/Funen and Jutland) the application can still be submitted by email while the assignee is still in their home country.

Action Items

  • Employers who may be affected are encouraged to contact their immigration specialist for case-specific advice.
