Effective 20 October 2017, fast-track applicants for residence cards and número de extranjero (NIE) certificates at the central police station located at San Felipe in Madrid are no longer able to make appointments in advance.

Instead, officers will provide application numbers to the first 30 applicants to attend each day. Foreign nationals who do not receive a number cannot submit an application that day.

In addition, applicants must now appear in person at the police station, and third-party representatives can no longer appear on the applicant’s behalf.

Action Items

  • Foreign nationals applying for a residence card or NIE in Madrid are advised to contact an immigration specialist for assistance with the new procedures.
