INDONESIA – Delays expected in work authorization processing as new online system launches

On Monday 2 July 2018, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) unexpectedly announced that its previous online application system for RPTKA (expatriate placement plan) and IMTA (work permit) applications would be replaced by a new online system, integrated with the Directorate General of Immigration, from Monday 9 July 2018.

MOM also stated that, to prepare for the new system, the existing system would be shut from 3 July 2018. This means that from 3 July until 9 July, no new applications are being accepted, and that the processing of applications already in the system has been stopped.

It is expected that there will be delays in the processing of applications through the new system, due to the backlog of applications and likely implementation issues.

Action Items

  • Employers who may be affected are advised to contact an immigration specialist for the latest information on the implementation of the new system.
